Fr Mark Raper SJ from Myanmar
“Dear Friends, Peace. From Myanmar we greet you for Easter…. Our small newsletter indicates ways in which Jesuits and companions in Myanmar consistently affirm and stand for solidarity and justice, against the prevailing violence, isolationism and political cynicism. Christ will not resolve everything without us. He depends on our individual renewals, no matter how minor they appear. Only in this way can the light of Easter break through and become light for others… Thank you for the wonderful support to the Myanmar Jesuits.” Jesuit Mission Australia can assist you to help Fr Mark.
JUNE 2026 UPDATE
Dear Friends,
Greetings from Yangon!
It has been three months since I took charge of the Development Office (DO) of MJR. This is my first time communicating with you through our quarterly newsletter, and I want to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to my predecessor, Fr. Mark Raper SJ, especially for his guidance and support since I stepped into this role. My special thanks also go to Gillian, who served as assistant DO and later as the DO Officer also, for her continuous support to our team during this transition period. I deeply admire the wonderful work they both have done for MJR.
I would also like to thank all of our mission partners for the warm welcoming messages you sent in response to our last newsletter. Thank you for your solidarity and unwavering support for our Jesuit missions here in Myanmar.
As you may be aware, Myanmar continues to face various forms of crisis. Millions of people remain displaced across the country, and conflicts and airstrikes persist in several regions. Many of our young people are struggling just to move on with their lives and education amidst intense socioeconomic and political pressures. We continue to commit ourselves to securing the resources needed to accompany and support those in need.
We hope and pray that you will continue to walk alongside us and support our Jesuit mission in Myanmar as we continue serving others for the greater glory of God.
Warm Regards,
Joseph Zau Gun SJ
