Dare to Belong — Why is being a Planned Giver so important to our Parish?
Why is being a Planned Giver so important to our Parish?
It provides some certainty in the planning for our special Church Events such as the Women's and Men's Night of Spirituality, the Camino talks and the ongoing activities such as the Sacramental Programs, Anointing Masses, and special Church liturgies such as Easter and Christmas. We need to maintain our collections as they are just over 30% of our income for the Parish. With our annual expenses totalling on average between $1.3 and $1.4 million and our receipts at the same level we are running at break even. To give you some idea of the level of our receipts and expenses. For 2009

**Repairs and Maintenance
The fabric of our buildings is old and requires special maintenance. The last 2 to 3 years have seen some significant repairs and maintenance across our 3 church sites. We have had a roofing company do extensive roof repairs on St Mary's church and presbytery, Marist Monastery, St Francis Xavier and Star of the Sea churches. In addition we undertook a major refurbishment of the first level of Leo XIII building at Lavender Bay - it is now being tenanted by Catholic Mission. Currently the Parish is undertaking critical repairs and maintenance in the context of occupational, health and safety criterion (the total works is costing $160,000). This work is anticipated to be finished by the end of June 10.
