Biamunga Yarn-Up event

Monte Sant’ Angelo Mercy College would like to invite you to the upcoming Biamunga Yarn-Up taking place on the 23rd of June 6pm-7pm at Monte Sant’ Angelo Mercy College - O’ Regan Arts and Cultural Common Theatre. 

Our guest speakers for the 2026 Biamunga Yarn-Up are Aunty Beryl Van-Oploo and Sharon Winsor.

Sharon Winsor a Weilwan woman from Western New South Wales. Sharon is the owner of Indigiearth: a proud wholly Aboriginal-owned and operated business.

She serves as an educator, storyteller, executive chef, and leader, sharing insights from her life’s experiences. Through her native food products, culinary events, and publications, she aims to educate the wider community about Indigenous ingredient.

Indigiearth has grown it into one of Australia’s leading Aboriginal owned businesses.

Recently Sharon was the recipient of the BILL GRANGER TRAILBLAZER OF THE YEAR AWARD 2026 AND LISTED IN THE TOP 100 AUSTRALIAN CHEF’S/ DINING EXPERIENCE’S AUSTRALIA 2025.

Aunty Beryl Van-Oploo is a Gamilaroi woman and Chef. For decades she has taught and mentored people of community and Michelin-star chefs about ancestral foodways and the importance of building community.

At 83 she has published her first cookbook and shared stories of her life as a mother, Aunty, educator and custodian of Gamilaroi knowledge.

She is the Elder in residence at the National Centre for Indigenous Excellence in Redfern and continues her catering business Yaama Bargay.
