Not from the Pulpit: Fr Andy Nguyen SJ
This First Sunday of Advent, our parish is hosting the Holy Family Choir from Emerton at the 6:00 pm Mass at St Mary’s, along with Jesuit Social Services Emerton for their annual appeal. We are grateful for their joyful presence, which continues to reinforce our relationship with the Holy Family Parish and Jesuit Social Services. I look forward to seeing many of our parishioners participating in the 6:00pm Mass and the BBQ afterwards, which is generously organised by Ignatius Mendonca and the team of volunteers and contributors.
As we have in the past several years, the Advent Daily Reflection book, In Holy Stillness, is available at all the churches this weekend for your daily prayers and reflection. Please seek out one of our greeters or Mass coordinators and obtain your copy if you haven’t already. Your $5 donation is most appreciated. In addition, Fr Sacha Bermudez-Goldman SJ has once again shared his Advent Calendar with us for our spiritual preparation for and daily living of Advent. Please check out the Parish website to download your copy.
Let us begin this Advent season, praying that the Spirit opens the eyes and ears of our hearts to recognise Christ’s presence and voice in our daily lives as we journey together. May we see each other with eyes of compassion and listen to one another with ears of understanding. May the Spirit help us to live according to our identity as beloved children of God. Amen.
