Reasons to turn away
Like many others who live outside the parish, I celebrate mass in the Our Lady of the Way churches because on most occasions the mass is spiritually satisfying. In addition there is a strong sense of community amongst the parishioners.
There are many reasons why people in all countries have withdrawn from joining in the celebration of the mass: the autocratic and rigid management by Rome, the sniffling of discussion on topics of reform and of course the sex abuse/cover up scandals. I fear that when the proposed new Liturgy translation with its arcane expressions comes into use, it will give people yet another reason to turn away from mass.
I applaud the Parish Council for looking at ways to attract parishioners back to mass.
