Reconciliation / Communion

Reconciliation (Penance) has 3 elements: conversion, confession and celebration. The Sacrament of Penance brings about reconciliation with God and therefore the forgiveness of sins. As Catholics we believe that the Eucharist is both a sacrifice and a meal. What is contained in the Eucharist is the spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself.

Children prepare for their First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion in Year 3 in a 6 week program. This commences in Term 1 of the School Year with the first three sessions in preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  In Term 2 the sessions  prepare  the children to receive their first Holy Communion.  Dates for this year appear below.

The 6 week program is attended by the children and their parents.
The first 3 weeks of the Program prepare them for the First Reconciliation.

Children do their first Reconciliation in between Weeks 3 and 4 of the Program.

This sacramental program commences with a Mass of Blessing at St Mary's Church, North Sydney and continues with the weekly meetings held in family homes, in groups of 7 children accompanied by their parents.

How to Enrol

Parent Information & Registration evening:

When 7.30pm, Tuesday 21st February 2012
Where St Francis Xavier Parish Hall, next door to the church, Mackenzie Street, Lavender Bay.At the Parent Information evening a presentation on the program and other essential nformation will be made available.  You will also select your preferred home group from the number of home group options available. (Program meetings take place in family homes either on a week night, usually 7 to 8pm or on the weekend.)
We will contact you shortly after the Registration evening by mail to confirm your home group and the first meeting date and venue details. Key Dates for the 2012 Program

 Registration, Parents choose a group that suits meeting between Sunday and Wednesday of each of the Group Sessions. These groups meet in a family home.
