In the Sacrament of Holy Orders, or ordination into priesthood, a priest vows to lead others
towards God; by bringing them to the sacraments (especially the Eucharist), by proclaiming
the Gospel and by providing pastoral care and ministry to all those in need.
Here we offer 2 avenues in fulfilling your vocation; as a Jesuit priest or Diocesan priest.
The Jesuits - The Society of Jesus
The Jesuits belong to a Catholic religious order called the Society of Jesus. This order was
founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola over 450 years ago.
Since then, Jesuit priests and brothers have lived an amazing story of servitude to the Church
in new and unexpected ways. Jesuits are men on the move, ready to adapt to whatever will
advance the mission of the Church.
Together Jesuits and lay partners place themselves in the presence of God and ask the same
questions that St. Ignatius of Loyola suggested to his first companions during the period of
prayer that led to the formation of the Jesuit order:
- What have I done for Christ?
- What am I doing for Christ?
- What will I do for Christ?
