Teresa House Volunteer Recruitment Drive

Teresa House Volunteer Recruitment Drive

23/30 July
Located in Redfern, Teresa House is a homeless shelter that provides free overnight and safe shelter for people who are at risk or with nowhere else to go.

Run by Cana Communities, our parishioners provide the volunteers to staff the house every Sunday night in two shifts, for a meal and then overnight.

Meal shifts involve two or three volunteers preparing a meal (usually in advance) and providing it at the house for the guests between 6pm-9pm. This gives the guests a home-cooked meal and a chance to chat with the volunteers and each other in a homely environment.

Overnight shifts involve two volunteers (at least one male) arriving around 9pm and staying in the secure volunteers' rooms, then helping the guests depart and to close the house in the morning.

We need volunteers for both shifts but especially for overnight. An information session will be run for those interested in volunteering soon.  It is a most rewarding way to give back to some of the most vulnerable in our community.
