Using and Responding to Art in the Classroom

Scripture Teachers at our local public schools were treated to a special workshop on how art can be employed in their work by the multi-talented Jo Kenderes.

A selection of religious paintings, both classical and more contemporary were discussed.  While some thought the nudity of Michelangelo's "Creation" could be risque, if not risky, in some classroom environments, all were impressed with the depth and range of consideration which arose through group discussion of a work.  Our catechists will now take what they see appropriate and enriching into their religious instruction.
