Discerning the call to serve

Fr Anthony V Smith SJ, Parish Priest, extends an invitation to all parishioners/volunteers who serve the Parishes of Our Lady of the Way
Saturday 12th March, 9.30am to12 Noon at the newly refurbished St Francis Xavier Hall, 17 Mackenzie Street Lavender Bay.

A note from Fr Tony Smith:
As we sharpen our focus on the role of the laity in our parish, a primary objective for 2011, a special morning is being organised to invite and acknowledge all our volunteers both past and present.

The challenge is to offer of my "time, talent or treasure" to service in the Church. For many years good people have joined in partnership to assist the Church in its missionary endeavour of proclaiming the Good News and serving.
The event will mostly give an opportunity to reflect how we have been called and responded to such a call from God. It is not often that we have time to do so, especially collectively as a parish community.
Jesus in his teaching makes many references about we who are called "to be salt and light" . On another occasion he says: "You did not choose me - but I chose you".
