Activities at Holy Family School Emerton, Mt Druitt

2studentsVolunteers from our parish continue to support the teachers at Holy Family School Emerton.
We assist the children with their reading, comprehension and listening activities.
This year we also assist with numeracy exercises.

The children who are aged between 5 and 9 years are very welcoming and seem to enjoy their interaction with us. Many have learning problems and appreciate our one to one involvement with them.

Sister Brenda Kennedy, the Principal always welcomes us enthusiastically. She is determined that no child will leave her school without being able to read and write to a satisfactory standard. The class teachers are also welcoming and appreciative of our support.
It is an easy trip along the M2 and M7 to the school where we spend three hours and then a happy drive home sharing the stories of the morning.

xmas_treeOn behalf of everyone at Holy Family parish, Mt Druitt, may I sincerely thank you for your generosity over the Christmas period. The Parish received over $8000 in cash and also a van full of baby nappies. I wish to thank everyone at the parishes of Our Lady of the Way.

$4000 was converted into $25 vouchers and the remaining money will go towards food which will be given to school mothers through "feed a family for under $10" cooking classes. The Parish in partnership with Jesuit Social Services has enabled Holy Family Social Services to grow and develop in these last three and half years. We can continue to develop through the generosity of Parishes like Our Lady of the Way.

Mary Poppins report 2011

mary_poppinsDear Friends,    
It is hard to put into words what a great experience our visit to  Mary Poppins was.  The children and their teachers had a great day and really enjoyed it.  Thank you very much for organizing it  for us.  The best part for me was being with them and seeing  their faces not only at the show but on the way to the city.  It was  truly fantastic.

To all the generous parishioners at Our Lady of the Way parishes our sincere thanks.  You made a lot of little children very happy yesterday and gave them an experience they will never forget.

Our Lady Of The Way Parishes And Their Role In Supporting Holy Family Parish At Emerton, N.S.W.

 

1.0 INTRODUCTION

Some five years ago Our Lady of the Way Parish established a connection with Holy Family Parish, at Emerton, NSW.  Since this time our commitment has grown and developed in a variety of ways.  Recently, the Parish Council reviewed this commitment, reflected on the activities that have occurred to date and discussed in some detail how best to continue our involvement in the years ahead.  Clearly what has been contributed in the past is substantial and impressive.  The report below attempts to provide you with a ‘snapshot’ of our Parish contribution to Emerton 2008-2011.
